Reclaim your comfort and restore your rest.
Where it starts
Jaw pain and poor sleep become your new normal.
You stop noticing how much they affect your life until you finally get the care you need. Dr. Kevin Tan evaluates and treats TMJ disorders, and screens for the dental and airway risk factors associated with sleep disordered breathing, working alongside your physician when a formal sleep diagnosis is needed.
TMJ / TMD
Repair function. Relieve pain.
The temporomandibular joints on either side of your head connect your jaw to your skull. Because they move forward, back and sideways, they are among the most complex joints in your body. Inflammation or other problems with these joints is called TMD.
It shows up as pain in the jaw, the face, the neck or the ears, as headaches that feel like migraines, as clicking or popping when you open, and as teeth that are wearing flat. Often it is felt everywhere except the joint itself, which is why it goes unrecognized for years.

Snoring problem? Trouble sleeping?
Beyond the noise, snoring can be a sign of something more serious. While you sleep, the muscles that hold your airway open relax; the sound comes from tissue vibrating as breath passes through a narrowed airway.
Snoring can be a warning sign of obstructive sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing stops for ten seconds or more, several times a night, depriving the brain of oxygen. Nearly 30 million Americans experience interrupted breathing during sleep, but only about 6 million have been diagnosed. Roughly 80% of people with sleep apnea don’t know they have it.
Common signs of OSA
- Daytime sleepiness
- Persistent snoring
- Pauses in breathing (usually noticed by a partner)
- Waking up with dry mouth or a headache
- Feeling exhausted after a full night's sleep
- High blood pressure
- Weight issues
- Inability to concentrate
- Irritability or moodiness

Benefits of treatment
- More energy
- More restorative sleep
- Increased focus
- Increased clarity
- Overall better health
Diagnostic technology
SleepStat BLE
High resolution pulse oximeter that records oxygen levels throughout the night, giving Dr. Kevin the data he needs to assess and treat airway health with precision.
Large View CBCT
Full CT imaging from head to neck for a complete picture of your oral and airway anatomy. Better imaging gives Dr. Kevin better information for planning dental treatment, and gives your physician better information where a medical diagnosis is involved.
What we see here tells us whether your airway is worth a closer look, and it is the start of a conversation with your physician rather than a diagnosis on its own. When a sleep physician has diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea and an oral appliance is an appropriate part of your care, Dr. Kevin designs one for you. It holds the jaw in a forward position during sleep to help keep the airway open, and for many patients that means fewer interruptions through the night.

Why Dr. Kevin cares about this
As an elite athlete he could never reach his potential because he couldn't get enough oxygen. The cause turned out to be a narrow airway, and understanding that changed everything.
